Nasal Care Details
Some of common environmental allergens such as pollen, volatile chemicals, fungal spores, animal body originated dustings gets into the nasal cavities which causes directly or indirectly various allergies and there reactions. Normal nasal and nasopharyngeal secretions combine with foreign entrants to form solidified mucous in the nasal cavity. These solidified mucous narrow the nasal passage and cause discomfort.
Earlier, an apparatus to effectively remove and treat the nasal passage obstruction as mentioned above was not available. Several methods have been developed in recent times to clean such nasal obstructions. One such development is Nasal Irrigation System which works in the following principle: an isotonic saline solution under pressure flows into one nostril and the nasolacrimal duct and then one by one through the ostia,the ethnoids, the maxillary and the sphenoids , the outlet of the Eustachian tube, through the nasopharynx to the upper posterior portion of the other nostril and in a reverse direction passing through same ducts as above , is discharged from the other nostril.
Nasal Washing
To improve all round health, it is necessary to wash nasal passages. One must understand that nose performs as body’s filter. It’s contribution to our health’s protection is immense. It is necessary to wash our nose, just the way we brush our teeth or clean our eyes or wash our mouth everyday in the morning, once we get up from our sleep. If people in general can make washing the nose a daily habit, our many health problems will automatically be reduced if not eliminated.
One must remember that exposures to any form of irritants that he encounters throughout the day’s various choirs, makes the mucus in the nose thick, the membranes in the nose get swelled and cilia cannot function properly. It has been proved that cleansing of nose has got no alternative and it a part of the daily ritual of body wash. It is especially helpful to those who are asthma patients or having sinus problems and congestion.
